Key Note Speakers

1) Professor Robin McTaggart
       Pro-Vice-Chancellor Staff Development and Student Affairs
      James Cook University


Professor Robin McTaggart is interested in curriculum and teaching, cross-cultural pedagogy and research, democratic and case study approaches to program evaluation and participatory action research in education, management and other professions. He has published widely across these fields. Prior to his appointment as Pro-Vice-Chancellor he was Executive Dean of Law and Education (1998) and Executive Dean of Education and Indigenous Studies (1999) at James Cook University. Immediately before moving to North Queensland he was Director of International Programs in the Faculty of Education at Deakin University Geelong and was Head of the School of Administration and Curriculum Studies at Deakin University from 1993-5. He is also Adjunct Professor in the International Graduate School of Management of the University of South Australia. He completed his PhD with Professor Robert E. Stake at the Center for Instructional Research and Curriculum Evaluation at the University of Illinois where he was a W. F. Connell Scholar. He has conducted evaluation and research studies of action research by educators, discipline-based arts education, arts programs for disadvantaged youth, instructional computing programs for intellectually disabled adults, coeducation and gender equity in private schooling, AIDS/HIV professional development for rural health workers, Aboriginal education in traditionally-oriented remote communities, scientific literacies and distance education provision in technical and further education. He has conducted participatory action research and evaluation training workshops for private and public sector managers, academics, technical and further education and training professionals, educators, educational consultants, and health professionals in Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and the United States.


2) Associate Professor Murray E. Jennex
       President of the Foundation for Knowledge Management
       San Diego State University


Murray E. Jennex is an associate professor at San Diego State University, editor in chief of the International Journal of Knowledge Management, and president of the Foundation for Knowledge Management (LLC). Dr. Jennex specializes in knowledge management, system analysis and design, IS security, e-commerce, and organizational effectiveness. Dr. Jennex serves as the Knowledge Management Systems Track co-chair at the Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences. He is the author of over 80 journal articles, book chapters, and conference proceedings on knowledge management, end user computing, international information systems, organizational memory systems, ecommerce, security, and software outsourcing. He holds a B.A. in chemistry and physics from William Jewell College, an M.B.A. and an M.S. in software engineering from National University, an M.S. in telecommunications management and a Ph.D. in information systems from the Claremont Graduate University. Dr. Jennex is also a registered professional mechanical engineer in the state of California and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
